The spherical roller bearing is a rotating bearing with minimal friction and angular misalignment capabilities. These bearings are typically used to support a rotating shaft in the bore of the inner ring, which may be misaligned with respect to the outer ring.
Misalignment is possible due to the spherical internal form of the outer ring and spherical rollers. Spherical roller bearings, despite their name, do not have a true spherical form.
The rolling parts of spherical roller bearings are primarily cylindrical in shape but have a (barrel-like) shape that gives the impression that they are somewhat over-inflated cylinders.
