When supplied as an extruded bar or sheet, the Delrin (POM) Rod may be machined using traditional methods such as turning, milling, drilling, etc. These techniques are best employed where production economics do not merit the expense of melt processing. The material is free-cutting but does require sharp tools with a high clearance angle. The use of soluble cutting lubricant is not necessary but is recommended.
Properties:
High abrasion resistance
Very Good dimensional stability
Chemical resistance to fuels and solvents
High Heat resistance good wear resistance and sliding properties high mechanical strength, stiffness, and toughness high creep resistance
Good Electrical and Die electrical properties good machinability
Field of application:
For components with particularly high requirements in terms of dimensional stability and visual effect.
Mechanical engineering, automotive industry, manufacture of chemical equipment e.g. meter components, sliding elements, gears, control discs, impellers, bearings, pump components, valve bodies, catch elements, coil bodies, bearing cages, clutch parts, pump housings.
